Steven Frank Parente is an animator, multi-media digital artist and graphics consultant living in Hilo, Hawaii. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Parente worked for several years in the aerospace and electronics industry as an interactive digital illustrator and commercial artist. He also produced pipe blown glass art and paintings which sold in Seattle and California galleries. In 1985 he moved to Hawaii to help Big Island fashion designer, Sig Zane, set up his textile printing process. Steven moved back to Seattle and worked with the Boeing Commercial Airplane Company on their computer-based airline pilot training project for the 757/767 airliner’s. But Hawaii kept calling, so in 1989 Steven moved back to Hilo where he has resided ever since. Upon arriving in Hawaii again, Steve became the Director of Media Communications for Suntera the electric vehicle company. He is also known for his original fine art paintings and glass etching, laser cut koa bookmark designs along with his digital artwork, commercial illustration and internet marketing. He has taught both traditional and computer art classes with Adult Education and in the High Schools, and e-commerce classes at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He is also the producer of the Smiling Ear, SmilingEar.net, an innovative internet radio station promoting relaxation and healing through music; and is the marketing director for HawaiiTropicals.com, a company that sells flowers, plants and gifts from Hawaii. He is a graduate of animationmentor.com with an advanced degree in character animation.
